Flash is a program that is often used for creating and designing webpages. It used to be more popular when the Internet was in its infancy. Many web designers decided not to use Flash because of the time it took to download graphics. The program has improved since the early days. Many web designers now use Flash for a variety of programming applications.
Flash is popular mostly because of the improvements to its animation capabilities. Some businesses prefer their websites have lots of graphics and (more…)
Today, I would like to take a look at the man behind the vision of Adobe Flash – Jonathan Gay. Gay, the main programmer of Flash, co-founded FutureWave Software in 1993. He later founded Software as Art. Gay actually began programming for Silicon Beach Software when he was a high school senior.
In a story he wrote on adobe.com, Gay credited LEGO blocks for giving him the foundation for building a program such as Flash, which is prominent on many sites you’ll access via CLEAR internet.
“Those bits of colored plastic taught me the basics of engineering design,” Gay wrote on the site, “how to choose a design problem, and the process of iterative refinement. Even better, they helped me express my early passion for building things.”
The first product Gay published, Airborne!, was a game for Macintosh, in black and white!
While Gay attended Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, Calif., he programmed two games with Mark Pierce – Dark Castle and Beyond Dark Castle. Airborne! And the Dark Castle games featured digital sounds before digital sounds were commonplace. Predictably, all games won awards.
You might be surprised to learn that today, Gay operates a direct-consumer small business that sells grass-fed beef.
Hello, everyone. It is good to be back! I have had a job transition to go through, which has prevented me from contributing on this page as I would have liked. It is good to blog here again!
A friend said I should backtrack a little and speak of what ASP actually means. I know those of us in the know use the acronym quite extensively. For those not as familiar, ASP stands for Active Server Pages. An ASP file may contain text, HTML tags and scripts. ASP file scripts are executed from the server.
The cool thing about ASP is that it uses server-side scripting to produce dynamic Web applications. Because they are server-side, it will not matter what kind of browser you view it with. So no matter how slow or old your machine might be, you can see the animation and other impressive attributes programmed into the page.
It is also cool that asp.net – the next era of Web development, not merely the latest version of ASP – is built on the Common Language Runtime, which means programmers can write asp.net code with any supported .net language.
With asp.net, it is a breeze to build Web applications with C#, a full-featured program language, or vb.net.
Next time, we will look into the pros and cons of C#.
The use of Macromedia Flash is gaining in popularity due to the interactivity of the interface. When integrated the result is a system that is interactive with a minimal loading period. With the use of Microsoft’s Active Server Pages (ASP or HTML), the possibility of a more dynamic application is possible.
Flash and ASP help improves a websites ranking online. Flash alone does not work well in the search engines and may have trouble ranking. With the incorporation of ASP, dynamic webpages are created in order to improve a user’s experience and the search engines (more…)
It doesn’t matter if Apple fails to utilize Flash. The Adobe creators of Flash technology are still marching forward. The 3D flash animations of today are using the latest flash technology to captive people.
It can be seen in the mobile revolution that is now changing our lives forever. Fans of the original flash technology are now blown away by the change. This is a big deal for anyone that likes pictures and videos that seem to come to life on (more…)
Flash has been around for a long time. In the beginning it was very abstract. People that knew how to program and work in Flash had it made. They were always able to find jobs. Today something much different is happening. The dynamic flash that was created by the selected few is now being created by many more PC users. This is all thanks to lots of different software applications in Windows.
There a mirage of Windows based programs (more…)
The world of Flash has produced many great pictures that are now seen everywhere. People have experienced it, but the creators associated with it still want to maximize the efforts put forth. The optimizations of Flash are apparent in the current role of making pictures.
There is a great need for Flash even though some companies like Apple have decided to shy away from it. There is an obvious need because pictures are changing in format as time (more…)
Adobe’s Flash platform has gained significant popularity on the Internet in recent years. It offers a variety of functions for developers of websites to provide to their users. Here is a list of some of the best features Flash has to offer.
- Flash websites tend to make a strong impression on your users. You can include special effects that pop visually to impress visitors. This opens up the door to animations, ease of transition to different pages, and the creation of a unique user experience.
